FAQ

When was the Social Media Leadership Forum established?

In 2009

What is the purpose of the Social Media Leadership Forum?

Faced with massive disruptions caused by the explosion of new technologies across the world, it makes sense for leading companies to cooperate and share intelligence. The Social Media Leadership Forum provides a consistent context for members to find out where social media is heading and to learn from each other.

Membership gives you access to the insights, intelligence, creativity and experience of many of the world’s leading companies.

Are you just about social media externally?

We embrace all aspects of social media.  We are also looking at social media within the workplace: how companies can become social businesses or social enterprises.

So leading companies share case studies with each other?

Yes

Who else participates?

Some of the world’s leading business/internet thinkers talk with members of the Social Media Leadership Forum.  Speakers  include Don Tapscott and Jeff Jarvis. As well as representatives from leading social networks or leading representatives of key emerging technologies.

How often does the Social Media Leadership Forum meet?

We aim to have 12 sessions a year. We often have more.

Are they all face to face?

Some are. We try to strike a balance between off line and online.

What else does the Social Media Leadership offer?

We carry out leading edge research with members and share this with members first. We produce guidance and produce best practice papers for members.  We organise social media dinners as well. We have an online library of resources created by members which you can access and share across your organisation to help spread learnings globally.

Who can join?

Leading organisations. Please get in touch if you would like to be considered.

Is there a fee?

Yes.  Members subscribe. Please get in touch. There are a whole variety of options including a six month trial option and special complimentary rates for NGOs. Up to six people from an organisation can be involved. Typically there is a lead member and then he or she invites the most relevant people from the organisation for particular sessions.

How does it work in practice?

We have a membership community manager who liaises with you over all forthcoming events and answers any questions you might have.  We have a range of online forums and private areas for members to contact one another and share ideas and information.
